The instance menu lets you quickly search, preview, and swap one component for another Ever build a beautiful button in figma only to have all the styling go out the window when you try to swap out the icons There are a few ways you replace or swap instances in figma.
Instance swapping another advantage to nesting components is that you can swap/replace them out for other components
For example in the tile header below, i just have to build one component for the tile header, and simply swap out the nested component for a different one. As the nested components have different states as well, i added variants to those If i click on the surrounding parent component and want to swap the variants of the nested child component, it only allows me to swap the complete instance and not its selected variant. Using command + option (or control + alt on windows), you can swap out your nested components super fast.#figma #figmatips #designtips #swapping #nested #ins.
It's a common practice to have components that are designed to have other components inside Cards, panels, accordions, and others Figmular supports this flow and allows exporting nested components, it just requires proper mapping.
